Mandatory Transition in ACE: National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS) Requirements

Back  in February 28,2016, we sent a newsletter about CBP currently working to transition cargo processing to the Automated Commercial Envrionment (ACE). ACE is being developed as the primary, modernized system through which the U.S. government will track, control and process all imported and exported goods and its Partner Government Agencies (PGA) such as FDA, USDA, TTB, FSIS, DEA, NMFS and all others.

We want to emphasize and let the importers know that there has been some changes that will now require us to submit further information electronically.

Here’s some guidlines on what is now required:

1. Importer’s HMS International Trade Permits: The importers HMS permit number starting with the letters SE and five digit numeric after that.

Please email it to: info@flegenheimer.com so we can enter it in our system. We can no longer proceed the entry without these information.

The Highly Migratory Species (HMS) International Trade Permit program regulates trade, including import, export, and re-export, of the following:

Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus)
Pacific bluefin tuna (Thunnus orientalis)
Southern bluefin tuna (Thunnus maccoyii)
Swordfish (Xiphias gladius)
Bigeye tuna (frozen) (Thunnus obesus)
Shark fin

2  Certificates- ICCAT, IATC, etc.

3. For Frozen Tuna-  NOAA Form 370

4. Captain Statement.

Note: We will be sending updates on new requirements for different government agencies. If you have any questions, please call us at 310-322-4366.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.
