Tariff Alert: Imposition of 10% Temporary Import Duties under Presidential Proclamation Section 122; Tariff Annexes
The President has issued a proclamation invoking authority under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, implementing a temporary import measure that will affect a wide range of goods entering the United States.
Beginning February 24 at 12:01 a.m. ET, a 10% ad valorem import duty will be applied to covered articles imported into the U.S. This temporary tariff will remain in place for 150 days.
“Effective with respect to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern standard time on February 24, 2026, through 12:01
a.m. eastern daylight time on July 24, 2026, subchapter III of chapter 99 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) is modified.” – Annex I of the proclamation.
Modification to the the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) can be found on Annex I of the proclamation.
While the order applies broadly, several categories of imports are not impacted by the Section 122 tariffs. Please refer to Annex II list of the proclamation for further details.
